Where to find things in the UMSL University Libraries (Thomas Jefferson, St. Louis Mercantile, and State Historical Society)

Service Desk

At the Service desk (located just inside the Quad entrance) you can:

  • Check out, renew, and return study room keys
  • Check out, renew, and return books (including Reserve, UMSL, UM System, MOBIUS, and Interlibrary Loan items)
  • Pick up books you’ve requested
  • Get help from a Reference Librarian to find articles, books, and other materials
  • Obtain assistance with microform materials
  • Inquire about directions, lost and found items, and other information

Library Classroom (Room 520)

The Library Classroom is located on the top floor of the Thomas Jefferson Library (Level 5, to the left and around the corner after exiting the elevators). It is used to provide instruction sessions to UMSL students.

St. Louis Mercantile Library & State Historical Society

The Mercantile Library is located primarily on Level 2, with exhibit space on Levels 1, 2, and 3. 

The State Historical Society is located on Level 2, just outside the elevators.
