If you haven't yet logged in, you may be prompted to do so now. Use your full umsystem.edu email address and password, and complete multifactor authentication. Then you’ll be taken to the New Search page.

Three screenshots of the multifactor authentication process. The first page prompts you to enter your UM system email as a username. A yellow arrow leads to the second screenshot which prompts you to enter your password. Another yellow arrow leads to the third screenshot, which prompts you to open your authenticator app, and enter the number shown on the screen to sign in.

B   In the top section of the left sidebar, open Saved to see your saved items.

C   The Records tab lists any records you've saved, along with any available PDF full text.

G   Remove searches by clicking the blue bookmark. The overflow menu lists the following options:

  • Edit details

H   In the left sidebar, click the Holds & Checkouts section to see any items you've requested or borrowed, and any fees you've incurred.

I    The Holds tab shows the physical books you've requested.

J   After the book's call number, you'll see your place in line.

  • "1st in line" means the book is currently checked out by another patron and you’re next in line.
  • "0th in line" means the book will be made available to you within a few days (depending on how far away it is). You'll receive an email when it's ready to be picked up.

K   Click Remove Hold if you no longer want the item.

M   The item's due date (i.e., the loan expiration date) appears after the call number. Most UM System books have a 120-day checkout period.

N   If you want to extend your checkout beyond the due date, click the Renew link.

  • It's best to wait to renew until right before the item is due.
  • If another patron has requested an item, you won't be able to renew it.

O   The Fees tab is where you'll find any charges to your account.

  • Fees are charged when you are very late returning a book, or when you keep a study room key more than 2 hours.
  • You'll receive an email whenever you are charged a fee.
  • If the materials are not returned after 28 days our library catalog triggers an invoice to be sent to the patron and their library account is blocked. The invoice will list each item that has not been returned and its replacement cost (can range from $20 to $300).
  • We would ALWAYS rather receive the overdue item than charge you money!
