In 2018 the UMSL Libraries began showcasing OER used by UMSL Professors in the Institutional Repository Library.
These were developed by SUNY, British Columbia, and West Virginia University respectively. Many of the other books used by UMSL faculty were developed at Rice University as part of OpenStax.

There are many motivations for UMSL professors to adopt Open Textbooks in their classes.
In 2020 the UMSL Library helped several UMSL Professors craft and publish Open Textbooks for their UMSL class
