Affordability and OER Cost Savings

When the cost of the original course material is unknown, we are using OpenStax’s figure of $79.37 for the central figure of the equation.

OpenStax project calculated this number by dividing the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics average undergraduate student spending on required course materials ($555.60) divided by the average number (7) of courses taken in a year.
